Book Signing For ‘Salina’s Historic Downtown’
Come to the Smoky Hill Museum from 2 to 4 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 17, to meet Mary Clement Douglass, the author of a new book on Salina’s past. Salina’s Historic Downtown. Douglass will be available to visit with and answer questions from guests as well as sign copies of the book. Perfect as a souvenir or Christmas gift, all will enjoy this permanent record of some of the people, places and events that make up the downtown’s history.
Copies of Salina’s Historic Downtown are available in the Museum Store for purchase. This is a wonderful companion book to Salina 1858-2008 by the Salina History Book Committee which was published by Salina’s Sesquicentennial in 2008. It’s also available in the museum store.
Douglass worked with the Salina Public Library to select images from the archives of the library’s Campbell Room of Kansas Research. Douglass has studied the history of Salina for more than 40 years as the city’s architectural historian and previous museum curator. Salina’s Historic Downtown is part of the Images of America series published by Arcadia Publishing. Each title presents the distinctive stories from its past that shaped the character of the community today.
