Sean Morton Photography On Exhibit at the Salina Public Library
Images by local photographer Sean Morton are on display now at the Salina Public Library in Gallery 708 through Sept. 26. A reception for Morton is scheduled during the First Thursday Art Rush from 5 to 7 p.m. Sept. 5.
For the past three years the Salina Arts and Humanities Commission has asked Morton to photograph the Smoky Hill River Festival and the Smoky Hill Museum Street Fair.
Photographs taken during these events have been used in various promotional items. Several of Morton’s photographs have been used in Salina Public Library CLASS publications and featured in the Sunflower Living Magazine. His photographs have been on exhibited at Salina Public Library, Salina Country Club, ArtXpressions, and the Smoky Hill Museum.
In 2012, he became interested in printing his images on a larger scale. He applied for and received the Lana Jordan Developing Artist Grant through Salina Arts and Humanities. Grant funds were used to purchase an Epson 9890 large format printer. The Epson 9890 can print images up to 44 inches wide and has the capability of printing on canvas. All of the images in this exhibit were printed using this printer.
