Student Project On Display At The Salina Public Library
A project showcasing the history of four historically significant Salina buildings remains on display at the Salina Public Library through Jan. 20. The library collaborated with Deirdre Hoff’s Salina Central High School history students for the class project. The buildings featured are Lee Buildings, Stiefel Theatre for the Performing Arts, Masonic Temple and United Building.
Students researched at the Smoky Hill Museum, Salina Public Library and interviewed staff from the City of Salina Planning Office. They also visited each site. The multiple objectives of the project were to exercise sound research techniques, experience local history in meaningful ways, enhance respect for that history and to tell the buildings’ stories through creative and accurate displays.
